As a City Champion partner of CityFibre, Gigabit Networks is supporting the UK’s third digital infrastructure provider in its drive to open up full fibre connectivity to businesses in towns and cities across the Midlands – including Cambridge, Leicester, Nottingham and soon Derby.
The significant roll out is part of a £4bn national programme to deliver full fibre infrastructure to over 100 towns and cities, one which is set to create 11,000 telecoms and construction jobs over three years.
The move comes as the UK Government seeks to deliver more reliable and superiorly faster connectivity services by replacing slower, ageing copper lines with full fibre cables. CityFibre is at the forefront of this vision.
The UK’s Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden said: “We’re working closely with firms like CityFibre and I warmly welcome their commitment to building a highly-skilled and diverse telecoms workforce which will boost growth right across the UK.”
